As we move through life, many of us develop coping mechanisms and patterns that help us adapt to rough and unstable environments and survive adverse life experiences. Over time, we can become unknowingly attached to these patterns rooted in old survival strategies. Even after we have worked hard to create a safe physical and emotional space for ourselves, establish healthy boundaries, and invite secure people into our lives—our mind and body continue to operate from a framework of threat and survival.
When we notice stuckness in these familiar patterns, therapy can help us develop healthier ways of coping and gently guide our mind and body back toward a sense of safety. From that place of safety, we can begin the journey of healing our inner world, tending to unmet emotional needs, and creating space for greater joy, connection, and light in our lives.
Let’s work together to find the silver lining to each past experience that shaped us into who we are today, finding meaning and strength within them while learning to build a safe harbour for ourselves in the present.
Hi, I’m Jessica and I'm a Trauma-Informed Counselling Psychologist. I believe each client deserves a safe space, without judgment, so that they can show up as their most authentic self. I hope to create such a safe space incorporating compassion and validation, while also bringing my own authenticity, aiding insight into any unhealthy patterns or maladaptive coping mechanisms, and also facilitating the client's unburdening.
With every session, I hope the client gains some insights, some perspectives to reflect upon, while also learning to appreciate their own strengths and viewing themselves from a lens of curiosity and compassion. To aid us in progressing on the therapy goals, I use an eclectic approach tailored to the needs of each client. I look forward to meeting you where you are, and collaboratively creating a safe space with you!
